2011 ITP End of the Year Show

This always delivers. Kids building crazy stuff and then performing with their inventions in public.
I never miss it. It is Sunday in Williamsburg. Mercury is in retrograde so expect some technical glitches, but it will all be alright in the end because we learn from our glitches. We have no choice.

The Mummies

I recently became aware of the work of The Mummies. They were a garage surf band from California in the 80s. They apparently invented the term “budget rock” and refused releasing music on CD until after 2000. They also would only perform and record on damaged equipment that they found lying around. They also dressed up like Mummies.

Steve Jobs and Strawberry Fields Forever

In the recent Steve Jobs bio he talks about listening to and being influenced by the complete perfectionism behind all the demos and takes of the Beatles Strawberry Fields Forever. Found this incredible video which strings together the progress of all the takes. You realize that it’s all about the process. Nothing is automatic.
