transmission888

Transmission 888 is a feature film project in development which is based on the short Radio Free Blissville.

The story concerns a wider view of the same community where Lennox’s covert radio broadcasts undermine a tyranny that holds the citizens hostage.

The narrative also concerns a character named Crosswell whose attempts to live on both sides of the coin at once make him fully understand the concept of sacrifice.

A reading of the script is planned in the near future. Copies of the script are by personal request only at this time.

Burroughs: Limits of CONTROL

BurroughsIt’s hard to believe this Burroughs essay was written back in the 1970s but is so prevalent today.

My favorite aspect is part five where he talks about how the Mayans controlled their society to such a point by so few people, that they didn’t need an army. The only caveat with that was when they had to defend themselves as a society against invaders and there was no one left to do this. The society just fell apart. It was as if the people in charge were too smart for their own good. What does this have to do with Pirate Radio? Nothing and everything.

Radio CPR in Washington DC

Hats off to these people.

Radio CPR Today

After some initial starts and stops, Radio CPR has been broadcasting seven nights a week since 1999. Over forty volunteers a week give their time to the station, most of whom have been working with us for years. Our collective involves people representing a broad cross section of the neighborhoods we serve. Our volunteers, show hosts and deejays are young, old, Black, White, Latino, African, Asian, renters and homeowners. We include social workers, bar tenders, carpenters, the unemployed, artists, waitresses, teachers, students, lawyers and more. Our budget is only around $1000 a year. We raise funds by organizing film nights and concerts at a local church space.
